Snow day!

Happy snow day!!

While the rest of the east coast is completely covered, we got about half an inch and had off of school (woot!) I attempted to get B out this morning to really experience his first snow. Even though it snowed a lot last year, he didn't get to really experience it because he was less than a year old. So this was the first time he truly got to go out in it. This is how it went...

We were not very successful. Not only has he been cutting a molar the last week, he has also decided he hates wearing socks and shoes. Why he had to decide this in January, I will never know. It made trying to get the snow boots on his feet that much more fun. They were not very easy to get his feet in to begin with and as soon as I thought I had one on, he would kick it off. In the midst of this, the dog needed to go out. She has longer fur so the snow just sticks to her in snow balls. While she is playing around and tracking snow all over the house, he is screaming and kicking off clothes. Finally he decided he really did want to go outside. We got the shoes and the rest of the snow gear on (minus the gloves) and headed out. Basically he just stood around pouting and whining until he decided he was ready to go back in. We then watched The Lion King (again) and he passed out on the couch.

Luckily I did my long run on Sunday and was able to squeeze in a short run yesterday. It was cold but felt really good. I wrote down a training plan to use while I work back up to 10K level, officially starting this week. Weather permitting, I will make it out to the gym tomorrow for some treadmill intervals.

Stay safe if you got snow!

A new year!

I'm taking a moment to post while my hubby deals with putting our toddler to bed who is not 2 yet, but is definitely acting like it. Fun times.
This is his "cheese" face.

We had a great Christmas break! It was so relaxing and fun watching B open presents. We did a lot of relaxing. I also got rather lazy. I've had a hard time getting out of the lazy rut these past few weeks. Then Daily Mile sent me an email with an overview of my year. I only ran 8 miles in July...EIGHT! This will not do, so I decided that my New Years resolution is to run more miles than last year. It's been a slow start this month but getting better. Yesterday I went to the gym on my day off and did intervals on the treadmill. Today I ran outside with B in the stroller. My lower legs are all cramped up but it's all good. Tomorrow is back on the treadmill. I signed up for Monument Ave so I've got to get back in shape!

Brody was given a wagon by his godmother and this turned out to be a new exercise routine for me. I now go on walks while pulling about 40 pounds behind me. I should just throw some logs or rocks in there with him and make it even more. I'll call this my upper body workout.

In other news, this little guy joined us on the way home from PA. I named him Lil' Heath after my favorite Steelers player Heath Miller. He goes on adventures and you can catch him on my Facebook.

We are also getting ready to remodel our kitchen!!! I am so excited because I HATE our kitchen. It is small and ugly. It will still be small but at least it won't be so ugly anymore. I can't wait to take those pictures.

I have races in my future and more blogging to do! See you more in the coming months!
